Schumann's Resonance - SINGLE
Some of you will know I come from a background of studying physics and many of the pieces I’ve written over the years have been inspired in some degree by science. My approach to writing is not in itself particularly scientific but the idea of some physical phenomenon can provide an initial spark.
One day last year while practising Robert Schumann I stumbled upon his namesake, Winfried Otto Schumann, who discovered the earth’s low frequency spectrum peaks. They are called Schumann Resonances and the idea of these global waves that surround the earth resonated with the composition experiments I was conducting at the time coupled with thoughts about the times we are living through: global pandemic and potentially catastrophic climate change. The three low frequency peaks became three low chords and a new composition was born, a hymn to the earth.
Schumann’s Resonance is the 3rd and final single from the forthcoming Tekstura album on Blurred Recordings.
